2021 – Bol d’Or – ERC Endurance Ducati: P7 on the grid for the 84th edition of the Bol d’Or at Le Castellet

Le Castellet, France. ERC Endurance Ducati will be departing at tomorrow’s Bol d’Or at Saturday, 15:00, from P7 on the grid. Mathieu Gines (FRA), Lorenzo Zanetti (ITA) and Etienne Masson (FRA) brought their EWC-spec Ducati Panigale V4R though the Qualifying sessions with a average best lap time of 1:54.452 minutes. The 24h Bol d’Or will be the penultimate round of the 2021 FIM Endurance World Championship.

Thursday’s first free practice and the Qualifying were hampered by bad weather conditions with all three riders facing heaving rain so times would be set on Friday in the second outing.

All three ERC Endurance Ducati riders took almost identical fastest lap times with Gines posting a 1:54.711, Zanetti taking a 1:54.482 and Masson a 1:54.165.

The 84th edition of the Bol d’Or is set to start tomorrow, Saturday, 18th of September 2021 at 15:00 CEST, with the chequered flag to be waved 24 hours later on Sunday, 19th of September 2021 at 15:00.

Mathieu Gines:
“Qualifying went okay for me – I know I can go faster but more important is the race to us. I am sure we have a good speed and can aim for a good result. I am focused on the race tomorrow already and am looking forward to it.”

Lorenzo Zanetti:
“I was not really faster on my qualifying tyre and maybe we could have done a bit a better strategy so could have improved. But in the end we all three did a similar lap time and looking at the race this is the good and important thing – to have a similar pace from all of us. Now I will have a look into the data with our electronics engineer and see if we can improve the bike even further for the race. I am so excited to start my first 24 hours race tomorrow.”

Etienne Masson:
“The qualifying went good for us and we have a good base for the race. The hardest part remains to be done and is still ahead of us, but I am confident as my teammates are fast and our Ducati Panigale V4R is really good.”
