ERC Endurance gains services of World Champion Etienne Masson

After a very promising first year of apprenticeship, the official Ducati team is entering its second season in the FIM EWC World Championship with more experience but also higher goals. To support these new ambitions, the team has decided to enrich its riders trio by recruiting the reigning world champion in the discipline. Indeed, for the 2021 season, Louis Rossi Mathieu Ginès and Sylvain Barrier will team up with Etienne Masson.

Aged 32, the rider is a reference in Endurance racing since he already has three world crowns (2015, 2016 and 2020) with the SERT team, to which is added a FIM Superstock World Cup victory with the Junior Team LMS- Suzuki in 2014.

Very experienced, Etienne Masson is also renowned for his reliability on track and his human qualities.

During the preparatory tests for the 24 Heures Motos which took place on March 30 and 31, the French rider also revealed his easy adaptability to the Ducati Panigale V4R equipped with Michelin tires. Comfortable from his first laps on the track, Etienne Masson quickly learned riding his new bike by completing regular and very fast laps.

His long experience and reliability on the handlebars will undoubtedly be very valuable assets in the game of the ERC Ducati Endurance team, alongside Louis Rossi Mathieu Ginès and Sylvain Barrier’s qualities.

Etienne Masson:
« I am really happy to be part of this team. It’s a new beginning for me. I am all the happier since my first sensations on the bike were very good. The Panigale V4R turns out to be quite easy to ride and its handling is healthy. I also appreciated the welcome the team gave me.
The atmosphere is both cool but also very rigorous when you have to, I like this way of working. Our discussions were immediately positive. I also have good feeling with my teammates. We’ve never ridden together but we know each other well. I think we are a strong team, ready to seize the opportunities that arise. The competition is certainly tough but if there is a podium within our reach, we will not hesitate to go and look for it! ».

Mathieu Haloua – Motorcycle competition manager for Michelin Europe
« We know Etienne well, having called on his services in the past during tire development tests. He is a fast and reliable rider, who goes through laps without flinching. It wasn’t normal that he found himself without handlebars this year. I am delighted to see him within the ERC Ducati team in Michelin ».
